This is a Ralph House, built by Ralph Brodine of EECC in Girdwood. It was originally completed in 1996. The house was designed & built as a B&B & was a very successful one for many years for the original owners.
We purchased the house from the original owners in June 2003. We experienced an unfortunate house fire with catastrophic loss 3 years later. Mr. Brodine rebuilt & restored the house completely, & we moved back in a little more than one year later.
Features of the House include:

-the large 2-car garage has commercial-grade garage doors; it includes a roomy workshop space with cabinets currently used as a ski room;
-solid wood doors, doorframes, baseboards, window frames throughout the house;
Hunter-Douglas window coverings;
-a custom mahogany staircase leads to the second floor; it as well as the entire
second floor is carpeted except for both bathrooms; they are Travertine;
-there is a small sitting area at the top of the stairs that includes a small countertop
(Corian) with a small sink, a small refrigerator, & cabinets above;
-there are 2 spacious bedrooms upstairs with their own private bathrooms; the
view from the front bedroom is of Mt Alyeska; the back bedroom looks out on an
open meadow & the occasional moose & bear;
-each of the 3 bedrooms in the house have a piece of stained glass artwork by Jim
Kaiser of Girdwood above each bedroom door;
-a bonus room adjoins the sitting area; it is currently used for storage; the room has
direct access to storage areas in the attic;
-there is a total of 7 ceiling fans throughout the house;
-the house has full-time or on-demand HVAC system with air exchanger;
-there is radiant, in-floor heating throughout the house;
-Vac-u-Flow, the central vacuum system, is installed & working;
-the electric system was built to accommodate a generator, though one was never installed;

-5-Star Energy Rated upon completion of rebuild;
